The Provincial Government Council of Lava has approved this Tuesday the tender for the project to rearrange and improve the southern access crossing to the municipality of Ubide on the N-240 highway, for an amount of 1,095,281 euros and an execution period of seven months. This intervention has the objective of improving the safety of this point of the road that connects Vitoria-Gasteiz and Bilbao.
The tendered project includes expanding and remodeling the Ubide intersection on the N-240 to provide it with deceleration, waiting and acceleration lanes, and thus reinforce safety on this road after the improvement works carried out in 2020 by the Lava Provincial Council in a section of just over three kilometers in the surroundings of Legutio.
The southern access to Ubide from the N-240 currently has reduced dimensions that condition its road safety and therefore requires an extension in length and width of the central lanes for left turns –deceleration and waiting and acceleration– and speed change lanes –deceleration and acceleration– for direct movements.
This junction is located right on the provincial limit between lava and Bizkaia and, therefore, these works will be co-financed by the Provincial Council of lava and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia in accordance with the agreement signed in 2021 by both institutions. lava will assume the cost of the alavs section and Bizkaia will do the same with the cost of the works on the biscay section.
