Lautaro Martinez, Barcelona | The Barcelona boss revealed that talks about a major transition have stopped

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu on Monday acknowledged that the club is no longer in talks with Inter about a purchase of striker Lautaro Martínez.

22-year-old Martinez has scored 17 goals in all Inter tournaments this season. He has recently been linked to a move to Barcelona.

Now the Spanish football giant’s president confirms that talks have been conducted, but he also makes another admission.

– We talked to Inter a few weeks ago, but now the discussions have stopped. Now we are not talking, Bartomeu told Catalan TV on Monday.

“We have to finish La Liga and the Champions League, and we’ll see what the priorities are after that,” he added.

The Barcelona summit also went a long way in confirming that there will be no soon-to-be-returned club for Brazilian Neymar.

“I don’t think PSG will make any players available in the transition market, and Neymar is a PSG player,” said Bartomeu.

At the same time, as before, he emphasized that talks are under way for a new contract for Lionel Messi. Bartomeu has no doubt that the Argentine will continue his career at Camp Nou.

Claimed agreement on the personal terms

It is the major newspaper ESPN that brought the news.

They announced over the weekend that the Inter star, Lautaro Martinez, had agreed with Barcelona about their personal conditions.

But they also assumed that there were several factors that would come into play before the transition could become a fact.

First and foremost, the clubs had to agree on a price for the player. The 22-year-old has 17 appearances in all Inter tournaments this season, and has been one of the team’s midfielders under Antonio Conte.

Barcelona also faces financial challenges this summer, and should have spent as much as 200 million euros from the budget next season, as a direct consequence of the coronavirus.

ESPN reported that the club will have to sell before they can invest again, and it will be Philippe Coutinho who is the player the club has pointed out. Barcelona should be prepared to lose money on the player they paid 160 million euros for when they picked him up from Liverpool in 2018.
