THE MATCH
And’Italy off and waxed collapses under the blows of a much more brilliant team and, above all, capable of expressing one quality far superior to that of the Azzurri. Chiellini and his teammates try, at least at the start, but they pay for thehuge technical gap, and end up stunned by the plays of the opposing champions. The second half of the race is one albiceleste show and a festival of the blue nervousness. The final result is the mirror of a truly one-way race.
Mancini chooses the trident Bernardeschi-Belotti-Raspadoriwhile Scaloni keeps Dybala on the bench and he too relies on 4-3-3con Messi, Di Maria and Lautaro forward. Argentina holds possession and joins the ball well thanks to the extraordinary qualities of its interpreters, but the first good chance is for Italy, with a right from the edge of Breakers well checked by Martinez. The Azzurri are still close to the advantage twice around the 20 ‘: first Romero anticipates Belotti two steps from the goal line, then Martinez is attentive on the header of the Gallo. The Albiceleste seems to struggle to find the right spaces, but at the first real opportunity he unlocks it: Bernardeschi naively loses the ball at the exit, Messi overtakes Di Lorenzo and puts in for Lautaro, which from zero meters must only place on the net. Mancini’s boys go out, get nervous and just before the break they capitulate: Bonuccias soon as he is warned, he lets himself run away Lautarothe Nerazzurri serves Of Mariawho burns Chiellini at speed and anticipates a Donnarumma uncertain in output.
At the beginning of the second half Mancini keeps Belotti, Bernardeschi and Chiellini in the locker room, inserting Scamacca, Locatelli and Lazzari. The national team’s game continues to lack tears and inventiveness, after 10 ‘ Bonucci and Donnarumma also risk a sensational mess, with the PSG goalkeeper saving the Juventus back pass on the line. The goalkeeper then has to overcome twice on as many conclusions as a wild one Of Maria and later thanks Lo Celso for a lopsided conclusion from an excellent position. Italy is completely in the ball, they can no longer pass their own half and the match turns into a sort of target practice towards Donnarumma’s gatewho engages (and wins) a duel with his teammate Messi. At the last minute, however, the new entry Dybala punishes the former Milan with a surgical left from the edge, which ends a game without history.
REPORT CARDS
