Lausitzer Füchse Secure 1-0 Away Win Against Krefeld Pinguinen – Game Highlights and Injury Update

At the end, Jonas Stettmer raised his arms in the air and then disappeared in a yellow bunch of cheers. Led by another strong goalkeeper, the Lausitzer Füchse secured a 1-0 away win at the Krefeld Pinguinen. Despite many chances, there was only one goal on Friday evening: Louis Anders scored for Weißwasser in the 57th minute. Coach Petteri Väkiparta’s team moved up to second place in the table.

Väkiparta’s conclusion: “It was a good ice hockey game from both sides. We saw a lot of duels. Overall, we just didn’t allow that many chances to score. This should continue to be our identity in the future. We’re happy to take these points with us.”

The game in front of 3,604 spectators in the Yayla Arena in Krefeld was overshadowed by a medical emergency in the visitors’ block at the beginning of the second third. The rescue workers’ measures took place behind a black tarpaulin as a privacy screen. Both fan camps temporarily stopped supporting. The affected Füchse supporter was responsive and conscious, the stadium spokesman said after a few minutes of fear. Applause erupted when the fan briefly raised his thumb to signal the all-clear as he was being taken away from the hall. According to information from LR.de, he suffered a head injury.

The Lausitzer Füchse went into this away game with the wind at their back from two recent wins. The hosts around ex-NHL professional Christian Ehrhoff, on the other hand, are still far behind expectations at the beginning of the season. In the first seven games there were three wins and four defeats for Krefeld. “We are of course not satisfied with the situation. We want to come out of this together with the fans,” said former Fox Maximilian Adam before the game.

Weißwasser survives the pressure phase in Krefeld

Weißwasser initially had to survive a period of pressure from the hosts. Afterwards there were also many chances on the other side. Things got painful for Dominik Bohac in the 11th minute: he blocked a slap shot from Jonathan Matsumoto with his upper body. Bohac even received applause from the Krefeld fans for this.

At the beginning of the second third, attention focused on the medical emergency in the visitors’ block. Only then did ice hockey take center stage again. Weißwasser continued to do well on defense and remained unscathed even when they were twice outnumbered.

The first goal in this game finally came in the 57th minute. Louis Anders was successful after a counterattack and secured the away win.

Good news for Samuel Dove-McFalls

There is good news for Samuel Dove-McFalls. The new addition to the Lausitzer Füchse is still waiting for his German passport and has not yet been able to take part in Krefeld. Instead, the Canadian striker with German roots trained alone in the weight room in Weißwasser. But Dove-McFalls’ debut is getting closer.

“The documents are now complete. The processing is now handled by the Saxony State Directorate,” explains Dirk Rohrbach, Managing Director of Lausitzer Füchse. We have been in close contact with the authorities in Dresden for weeks. “We were assured that the process would be completed as quickly as possible. As things stand today, I hope and assume that he will receive his German passport in the next ten days.”
