Lausanne Hockey Club continued its dominant run in the Swiss National League, securing a sixth consecutive victory with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Zurich. Meanwhile, Geneva-Servette HC (GSHC) edged out Langnau 3-2 in a thrilling encounter, but not without a late scare.
Lausanne’s success was built on a solid defensive performance and a potent offensive display. After Zurich took an early lead, Oksanen, the Finnish top scorer, equalized in the 39th minute following remarkable teamwork from Riat and Suomela.Oksanen then delivered the decisive goal in the 48th minute with a skillful flick,securing the win for Lausanne. The victory extends their lead over Zurich to six points, even though Zurich still holds three games in hand.
Geneva-Servette’s Nail-Biting Win
Geneva-Servette, coming off a 3-0 defeat the previous day, faced a challenging match against Langnau in front of their home crowd. Despite enjoying an eight-minute power play early in the game, they failed to capitalize on the opportunity. However, GSHC found their rhythm in the second period, scoring three goals to establish a commanding lead. Langnau’s Pesonen pulled one back 31 seconds after Hartikainen’s 2-0 goal, but Lennström’s stunning solo effort sealed the victory for Geneva-Servette. A late goal by Langnau’s Mäenalanen made the final moments tense, but GSHC held on for the win.
“The decision should have fallen in the initial third, but despite 8(!) minutes in the numerical advantage, the players of the Treille-Franzen duo did not deceive Boltshauser,” a source close to the team commented on Geneva-Servette’s early struggles.
