The year 2024 will mark the arrival of a new general management at the School Service Center (CSS) of Portneuf. The members of its board of directors formalized, during an extraordinary meeting held on December 4, the hiring of Laurie L’Hérault to fill this senior position left vacant by the retirement of Marie-Claude Tardif, on January 28, 2024.
Currently director of the Roger-Comtois secondary school, at the CSS de la Capitale, in Quebec, Ms. L’Hérault, who will take up her position on January 29, managed to stand out throughout the selection process aimed at confirm his hiring.
Experience and vision

My experience has prepared me well for this. » A teacher by training, Ms. L’Hérault has more than 20 years of experience in the education network, 17 of which have been devoted to school management and administration. Laurie L’Hérault also served as deputy director of educational services for young people in special education, again at CSS de la Capitale. She also sits on the board of directors of her current CSS as a representative of the management of educational establishments.
Bill 23
First scheduled for February 12, the date of entry into office of the new director general was brought forward to January 29 due to the adoption of Bill 23, one of the objectives of which is to allow the Minister of ‘Education itself to appoint the general management of a CSS. The board of directors orchestrated the process, with the full knowledge of the minister, to ensure that the appointment of Ms. L’Hérault, who will also benefit from an indefinite-term contract, is not governed by the application of this law modifying the parameters of school governance.

In an interview, Marie-Claude Tardif said she was proud of the establishment of a board of directors “which is very healthy and whose members are greatly involved in meeting the objectives of the organization”. Shortly after taking office, she had to lead the transition between the abolition of school boards and the founding of the CSS, which involves the reform of the change in governance with the dissolution of the council of commissioners and the establishment of the board of directors. As of January 29, Ms. Tardif, who has held the position of general director for the last five years, will be employed by the general management of the CSS, as a senior advisor, while allowing the integration , to carry out the transfer of files and support Laurie L’Hérault in her new functions in the first months of her mandate.
