Born to a Mauritian mother in France, laurianne Fany Varoquier has been crowned the new Miss Franco-Mauritian for 2024. At just 23 years old, Laurianne is set to dedicate her reigning year to raising awareness about breast cancer screening, a cause close to her heart.
“I am ready to transmit messages of hope and to work for a more united world that is aware of health issues,” Laurianne shared after her victory at the 8th edition of the Miss Franco-Mauritian competition, held on December 21, 2024. Organized by Geetah Ajodah of the Hibiscus Association in France, the event celebrates the union of French and Mauritian cultures while empowering women to make a difference.
For Laurianne, the competition was more than just a beauty pageant. “Participating in this competition was not just a simple search for external recognition. it is indeed a real platform for the union of strong, autonomous women ready to move the world forward,” she explained. A native of the Île-de-France region, Laurianne credits her Mauritian heritage for shaping her values and ambitions.
A Platform for Growth and Sisterhood
The journey to the crown was filled with meaningful experiences. Laurianne described the rehearsals, discussions, and moments spent with fellow contestants as transformative. “I learned a lot and grew, not only on a personal level but also thanks to the spirit of sisterhood that reigned throughout the competition,” she said. She expressed gratitude to the other contestants, coaches, and Geetah Ajodah for creating an inspiring environment.
Laurianne, who holds a Master’s degree in transport, logistics, and international trade, believes in the power of education and awareness. During her reign, she plans to collaborate with associations and health professionals to organize workshops and conferences aimed at educating the mauritian population about the importance of breast cancer screening.
A Global Advocate for breast Cancer Awareness

A Proud Franco-Mauritian
Laurianne’s connection to Mauritius runs deep. Her last visit to the island was in November 2024, where she celebrated her mother’s 60th birthday. “What I like about Mauritius is the diversity and what we learn from all cultures. Family, she says, is her cornerstone.“Family being an essential value for me, I would like to thank my loved ones for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout this adventure,” she said.
