1. FC Union Berlin is extending Laurenz Dehl’s contract, which is due to expire at the end of the season. The 20-year-old, who started playing football at SV Blau-Gelb Berlin and has been active for Union since 2011, received a license player contract in 2019. Last season, the 1.81 m tall Berliner appeared on loan for Hallesche FC before returning to the Alte Försterei in summer 2021.
“I’ve been at Union and grew up with the club for over ten years now. It’s my club and I feel absolutely comfortable here. So it was logical for me to extend my contract. Together with those responsible, we discussed the next steps that should help to further advance my development,” said Dehl after his extension.
“We are very pleased about Laurenz’s contract extension, as we want to train him in the right-back position in the future. He has shown since the beginning of the season that he really has a lot of talent there and that we will see him there in the foreseeable future. Since it is important for him to gain match practice and more experience, we are aiming for a loan for the coming season,” commented Oliver Ruhnert, Managing Director of professional football at 1. FC Union Berlin, on the contract extension.
