The fact that the creators of the series asked the princess to provide the first episode with a voice-over does not come out of the blue. Laurentien has been asked for her position as a special advisor to the Rewilding Europe organization. Still, she thought it was quite exciting. “I thought about it and talked to people about it,” she says. In the end, she took up the challenge “because it’s a very important story to tell,” said the nature lover.
“It was very exciting and I drank a lot of tea with honey,” she told the reporter. “It’s a lot of fun challenging yourself to do it well,” she says with pride, “you have to listen carefully to the director and follow the directions.” She is curious about the result. “Of course I am not a professional, we will see.”
New nature in Europe
The new nature series is about the revival of nature in Europe. Something the princess also likes to dedicate herself to “it’s a fantastic story! The nature that you see. It’s really unbelievable,” she says with a smile. “You really will love Europe even more than I already do.”
Europe’s New Wild is broadcast in more than 45 languages in more than 160 countries and can be seen on National Geographic on Wednesday evening in the Netherlands at 9 p.m.
