Mexico City. Laura Galván, who achieved her best time of the season in the 5000 metres in Paris with a time of 15:05.20 minutes, admitted that her experience in her second Olympic Games was bittersweet and she is even now considering competing in the marathon.
“You realize that the level is very strong. No matter how much you want to improve, it is always quite difficult to face the others. Even so, I am happy because my participation was good,” she said upon her arrival in Mexico City.
When asked about her future or her plans for Los Angeles 2028, Galván admitted that the good results that the tricolors usually have in the marathon have caught her attention to make a change in her sporting career.
“Mexico is strong in the marathon and I would like to explore this event perhaps in the next Olympic cycle, especially given the results we had in Paris,” he said.
Although he accepted that Mexican athletics has not made much progress in recent years, he said that it is important now to see several Mexican athletes in different events that can inspire future generations.
“I think representation is very important, regardless of who we are. It is essential to support those who come after us,” he said.
Regarding Ana Guevara’s management of CONADE, who has had clashes with other athletes, she preferred to be measured. “As an athlete, what you have to do is train and prepare; that is the only thing you have to do, prepare as best as possible because the competition is very strong.”
