Los Angeles – “My wonderful boy passed away”. With these moving words, Laura Berman introduces her farewell post for her son Sam. The American couples therapist, TV presenter and bestselling author is in deep sorrow. Her son died of an overdose on February 7th. A popular social media app probably played a major role in the huge tragedy – which Berman is now urgently warning.

Sam was only 16 years old. He died “in the protection of his own home,” reports his mother. Berman made the whole tragic story public on her Instagram account. There she posted a picture of herself and her son lying in each other’s arms, beaming. A reminder of happy times that came to an end far too soon.
As Berman says, a drug dealer contacted her son on the Internet. He sold illegal substances to the 16-year-old via the popular social media app Snapchat and probably even brought them to his home. It should have been Xanax, Fentanyl or Percocet. A toxicological investigation still has to show which substance it was exactly. In any case, Sam would have swallowed the drugs carelessly and died of an overdose in his own room.

“My heart is completely broken and I don’t know how to continue breathing,” Laura Berman continues in her emotional post. She would have thought that she would always have taken very good care of Sam. “A good student. In preparation for college. But this one experiment went wrong, ”she continues. Then she directs an emotional warning to all other parents.
“I’m just posting this so that another child doesn’t die like that,” writes the successful podcaster. “They do this because it lures people even more and it’s good for their business,” she explains the dealers’ methods. “But for the children it ends in an overdose and they don’t even know exactly what they are actually taking.” Before using the social media platform, Berman warns particularly: “Please take care of your children.
