Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
fire balloon launched from Gaza Strip, Palestine, on Friday (6/8), caused four land fires in the Eshkol region, Israel.
Quoted from AFP, the balloon is a device meant to burn agricultural land around the Israeli-blockaded Palestinian enclave.
The last time such an attack occurred was on July 25, and sparked a forest fire in the same area. The Israeli army then retaliated with air strikes against targets of the Islamist movement Hamas, which controls the Palestinian enclave.
Israel’s fire department did not immediately provide details on Friday’s blaze, saying only firefighters were trying to extinguish it.
Israeli media reports said the fire broke out in a forest in the Eshkol region.
The balloon launch came after Lebanon’s Hezbollah, a Hamas ally, fired rockets at Israel, triggering a Zionist counter-attack.
The series of incidents follow a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas since 11 days of deadly conflict in May.
