Most people have a relationship with Tesla. When it comes to electric cars, Tesla is the best known. This is not surprising, since the American company was impressively fast in the field with cars and chargers that outperformed the competition.
And for a long time, Tesla’s fast chargers have been the best and fastest on the market. The Tesla Supercharger can charge a car with a speed of up to 250 kW. But these have been bypassed by German Ionity, which offers fast charging of up to 350 kW.
We write up to, because there are many parameters that decide and that should work for you to actually get the maximum charging speed out of electric car chargers. Temperate (not cold) battery in the electric car, little power on the battery and few free charging places can be crucial.

But now Swiss ABB is launching a new fast charger that will beat Ionity, if only by 10 kW. With charging speeds of up to 360 kW, ABB chargers are actually 44 percent faster than the Tesla Supercharger.
According to the company itself, the new chargers will optimally be able to deliver a full 100 km of electric car power in less than three minutes. ABB believes any electric car should be able to be fully charged in 15 minutes or less. Here, however, we must arrest them, among other things since few or no electric cars can accept such fast charging today.
Thus, the new Kia EV6 – the electric car that many are waiting for this autumn – will also be able to charge at maximum speed. With its 800 volt electrical system, the EV6 can with 240 kW charge 100 kilometers range in four minutes – which is faster than almost all today’s electric cars.
Then we’ll see how long it takes before some competitors come with 370 kW chargers or even better …

Four at a time
For those of you who are still stuck, we can also inform you that the ABB Terra 360 is a so-called modular charger, which is designed to be able to charge four electric cars at the same time.
“With governments globally formulating policies that favor electric vehicles and charging networks to combat climate change, the demand for electric charging infrastructure is higher than ever, especially charging stations that are fast, convenient and easy to operate,” said Frank Muehlon, head of the company’s so-called E-mobility. division in a press release on Friday.
“The world’s fastest fast charger” will arrive in Norway and Europe during the current year, while the USA and Asia will have to wait until 2022.
