Launched a public beta program

WhatsApp has launched a public beta process for its desktop app. Now macOS and Windows users can sign up for the program and have the opportunity to try all the new features in the desktop applications.

According to the news of WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is also trying to improve multi-device support. That’s why the company is focused on WhatsApp Web/Desktop applications.

When users sign up for the program, they officially become beta testers and can automatically receive all beta updates. For now, the latest version for general users is 2.2133.1. During the beta process, users can not only see the waveforms while recording an audio message, but also pause the message and listen to the audio before sending it. This feature is allegedly under development on WhatsApp for iOS as well.

“THEY CAN SEND SCREENSHOT”

Users in the beta program will be able to send bug reports to the WhatsApp team. To report a bug, users will be able to go to the Contact Us section in WhatsApp Desktop Settings and post a screenshot so the team can work on the bug.

The most striking feature of the beta process is that WhatsApp is also working on multi-device compatibility, which will allow users to stay connected to WhatsApp without the need for their smartphones. Because at the moment it is not possible to use WhatsApp on two different devices. Apart from this, WhatsApp is also preparing for the launch of the iPad application. Because with multi-device compatibility, users will be able to stay connected to WhatsApp even without their phones or when their smartphones run out of charge.
