WhatsApp shared a detailed explanation about its new features on its blog page.
According to the spokesperson, the statement said:
As we announced last month with our WhatsApp Communities vision, we are currently developing features for organizations, businesses, and other close-knit groups to securely communicate and get their work done on WhatsApp. The feedback we’ve received so far has been very positive and we look forward to making many more new features available to people.
EXPRESSIONS
- We are excited to share that emoji emoticons are now available in the latest version of the app. Emotes are fun and fast, while also reducing the overload in groups. We will continue to improve emoticons by adding an even wider range of emotes in the future.
2GB FILE SHARING
- In addition, you can now send files up to 2GB from WhatsApp in one go, protected by end-to-end encryption. We think this increase over the previous 100MB limit will be beneficial for collaboration between small businesses and school groups. For larger files we recommend using WiFi and will display a counter during upload or download to let you know how long your transfer will take.
GROUPS OF 512 PEOPLE
- One of the most important requests we consistently received was the option to add more people to a chat. That’s why we’re now gradually rolling out the ability to add 512 people to a group. Building private, safe and secure communities takes effort. We think these improvements will help people and groups stay close together.
- We hope users will enjoy these updates and look forward to sharing more throughout the year.
