Sony withdrew Xbox Series X publicity campaign, but first banners have been spotted.
A lot of people thought Sony would announce the price of PlayStation 5 on September 9, but it remained remarkably quiet. Sources now confirm that the unexpected announcement of the prices of the Xbox consoles was the cause. The launch now seems imminent, as prices have leaked and the first banners in stores have been hung. We will update you.
Launch PlayStation 5 delayed by Xbox Series X
When on September 9 the announcement of the price and availability of PlayStation 5, contrary to expectations, was not announced I guessed that the more or less forced confirmation of Xbox prices was one of the reasons.
That suspicion has now been confirmed by sources close to the fire. Sony would, not unexpectedly, have planned to bet the prices much higher. Sony has now made a price adjustment according to the same sources.
PlayStation 5 matches Xbox Series X price
According to those sources, the price of the PlayStation 5 is now equal to the price of $ 499 Xbox will ask for her Xbox Series X. With the digital edition it was not possible to match the prices. With a price of $ 399, this remains $ 100 more expensive than the Xbox Series S. On the other hand, the digital version of PlayStation will have the same technical specifications as the premium edition, with the exception of the memory disc, of course. However, this is still subject to change, because Sony has not yet confirmed anything, although we can expect that confirmation at any time.
Confirmation forthcoming, promotional campaign already in stores
Sony is said to be very disappointed with the damage suffered and is doing everything it can to announce the prices and release date as soon as possible and to start the presale. The first banners have now been spotted in stores in Australia.
We will of course continue to monitor developments.
