Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has pledged to ensure the completion of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB) on time, believing it will decongest traffic in Metro Manila and open up regional opportunities. Marcos said he expects construction of the P175.6-billion project to start by October this year, cutting the Central Luzon-Calabarzon travel time from five hours to just 45 minutes. The BCIB will also help bring prices down for goods and services as transport and logistics costs will decrease, generating immense savings all around, he said. The bridge will be one of the longest in the nation, spanning 32 kilometres, and is expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2028, with construction lasting for 60 months.
