Launch of New HPV and RV Vaccines in Tasikmalaya City: Preventing Cervical Cancer and Diarrhea in Infants

TASIKMALAYA, iNewsTasikmalaya.id – Tasikmalaya City Health Office (Dinkes) launched two types of vaccines, namely the New Vaccine against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and Rotavirus (RV). The launch of the two newest vaccines was carried out at the Amaris Hotel Ballroom, Cihideung District, Tasikmalaya City, Wednesday (9/8/2023).

Head of the Tasikmalaya City Health Service (Kadinkes), dr. Uus Supangat said the two immunizations were an effort to prevent cervical cancer in women and RV which could prevent death from diarrhea in infants.

“So far, these two vaccinations have not become a mandatory vaccination program. We just made the inauguration today. This vaccine is carried out in order to increase the child’s immunity. So that when infected, they can be immune and not easily infected,” said Uus, after the launch of the new HPV vaccine. and RVs.

Uus said, the target for RV was toddlers aged 2, 3 and 4 months, as many as 10,473 people. Meanwhile, the HPV vaccination for 5th grade elementary school (SD) children was 6,318 people. In addition, said Uus, this vaccination will be carried out continuously and included in the mandatory vaccination program.

“So it doesn’t end here. Later there will be new babies, they will be given again. Rotavirus three times, and HPV two times. So far, these two vaccinations have not become a mandatory vaccination program. We are only doing the inauguration today,” explained Uus .

“This is mandatory, because the virus is developing scientifically. So it’s only now being made mandatory,” he added.

Uus explained that out of 32 cases, four died of cervical cancer in Tasikmalaya City. This means that the percentage is quite high.

Meanwhile, the virus can also interfere with the reproductive process. Because the uterus can be removed.

“We hope that in the future there will be no more infections, such as polio,” concluded Uus.

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Tasikmalaya City, H. Ivan Dicksan hopes that the presence of the two types of HPV and RV vaccines can anticipate the types of diseases that will be infected in children.

“We want the next generation to be a healthy, quality generation. To be of that quality he must be healthy first. If he is healthy, the various activities he undertakes will be optimal. Meanwhile, currently the disease continues to develop. This needs to be anticipated,” said Ivan.

Ivan said the vaccination was a program of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the result of coordination between the Health Office, the Education Office (Disdik) and the Tasikmalaya City Ministry of Religion (Kemenag).

“This vaccination is also carried out under the WHO program. Rotavirus can cause diarrhea and dehydration in toddlers, especially those under two years old. The impact can be fatal. Therefore, we vaccinate toddlers so they don’t get rotavirus,” said Ivan.

“Second, there are also vaccinations related to cervical and penile cancer. Therefore, HPV vaccination is carried out, especially for girls. If vaccinated early, God willing, they will be immune to the virus,” he continued.

Currently, said Ivan, in Tasikmalaya City, HPV and RV are seen to be in an increasing trend.

“We also ask for support from all parties so that we can create a society that has immunity to various diseases. Hopefully this can go well,” he concluded.
