A doctor at the health center this summer.
The community of communes of Bas-Armagnac (CCBA) held its last council in Laujuzan
Vincent Gouanelle recalled that access to healthcare is a priority for the territory and informed that, following several visits by doctors, Mr. Saint-Victor, a doctor of Spanish origin, would have signed a commitment agreement for his set up at the Nogaro nursing home at the start of the summer. He is currently housed at the Houga pending administrative regularization and to get to know his new position.
The discussion then turned towards the sustainability of the installation of doctors in the territory through a policy of assistance to students from the region, or by a grant for the last 2 or 4 years of medical studies. This remains to be defined at future meetings. “We have a partnership to build for the future with the school community so that our young people can stay in our department. It would be a zero rate loan but repayable, specifies Christian Cuvellier, if the student decides not to settle down” .
Patricia Galabert, mayor of Houga and 1st vice-president of the “childhood-youth” commission, provided an update on the creation of a childhood-youth center in Houga and another in Nogaro, with rehabilitation of an existing building and the acquisition for the reception of “young people”, for one euro, of a building (to be rehabilitated) belonging to the municipality of Nogaro.
Jean Duclavé, mayor of Magnan and 2nd vice-president, presented the projects of the “tourist, cultural and sports development” commission and specifies that the CCBA wants to develop a cultural policy in harmony with local associations by offering 4 evenings combining heritage, entertainment and gastronomy, with a local producers’ market. Several municipalities have been contacted with the help of Clara Ibos for this summer. The program will be unveiled shortly.
Regarding emergencies at the Aire-sur-l’Adour clinic, Vincent Gouanelle specifies that he attended a meeting with Christian Peyret recently and that the situation remains fragile. There are also difficulties in recruiting in radiology and in nursing positions.
The next CCBA meeting will take place on Thursday July 1st.
