Ester Laufer went to the hospital to see her famous dad on Thursday to celebrate his 83rd birthday with him. He has been visiting the actor Josef Laufer, who is currently in artificial sleep, in this way for three years. This time, too, she played and read messages from close friends. At the same time, she was not surprised at how many people remembered Josef Laufer.
Josef Laufer spent his 83rd birthday, which falls on August 11, again in the hospital. The popular actor, singer and director has been lying in it for more than three years, of which over two years in artificial sleep. In March 2020, Laufer underwent heart surgery, but complications arose and the actor has not communicated with the world since then.
However, daughter Ester visits the famous father regularly and does not give up hope that one day he will open his eyes and talk to her again. This year too, she told her dad all kinds of stories. She also brought him spoken and written wishes from his loved ones. And as she admitted, she was pleasantly surprised.
Despite the fact that Laufer’s health has not improved for many months, he still has not lost his popularity and it seems that the ranks of his supporters are not thinning. “I sent messages and read him who wrote what and I have to say that I am really pleased how many people remembered him and like him,” said Ester to TN.cz.
One of the wishes was also sent to Laufer by his long-time friend Zdeněk Hrubý, with whom he created the successful musical Treasure Island for the Broadway Theatre. “I sent him a message, partly spoken and partly sung,” he said, noting that the content was mainly about their work together. “We were completely sold out since the premiere in March. People were excited, it turned out very well. It’s a shame that Pepík didn’t experience and see it, I gave him a message with this message,” explained TN.cz.
The musical was completed just before Laufer was hospitalized. Hrubý is the author of the theme and music for the musical Treasure Island, Laufer wrote the script and song lyrics.
