One of the highlights will be the charity home run in favor of the “No child without sport” initiative. What is planned.
Lauenburg. Traditionally, the nationwide day of sports not about records, but about having fun and enjoying exercise – and that at any age. This day has been organized for years from State Sports Association in Kiel. Up to 30,000 recreational athletes have met around the House of Sports in the state capital in recent years. But in 2020 Corona slowed down the organizers. A year later, the national association recommended that the member clubs organize their own events on Sport Day instead. Although the central event is now back, the idea was so well received that the decentralized actions remained – and Lauenburg was there from the start.
On Sunday, September 3rd, the gymnastics department of the Lauenburg Sports Association (LSV) sports day again. Between 2.30 p.m. and 4 p.m. there will be plenty of sporting surprises on the Hasenberg sports field. The Lauenburg gymnasts had already got a lot going last year: tug of war in the family association, swing towels, the driving license for the bobby car or spontaneous fitness exercises were some of the items on the program.
Lauenburg Sports Association organizes Sports Day again
One of the highlights this year will be the charity home run. This campaign was launched in 2010 by the sports youth in the state sports association Schleswig-Holstein for the benefit of the “No child without sport” initiative. The aim is, together with the member organizations, to enable all children and young people to take part in the diverse offers of the sports clubs.
In Lauenburg, the entry fee of one euro per participant goes to the children’s gymnastics department. You don’t have to be an experienced runner to take part. Small children in the Bobbycar, parents with prams or seniors with walkers can take part. The only condition: Each participant should complete at least one lap around the sports field at his own pace. Slow walking is also allowed.
The sports badge season ends on September 3rd
Of course, there is also an opportunity to push your own physical limits on Sports Day. On this day, this year’s season for taking the sports badge ends, the highest award outside of competitive sports, which is awarded by the German Olympic Sports Confederation. Last year there was a record turnout in Lauenburg. 46 recreational athletes achieved the achievements for the sports badge in gold, silver or bronze. In order to pass, the participants must successfully complete at least one discipline from four categories. The categories are endurance, strength, speed and coordination. Applicants must also demonstrate that they can swim.

For the youngest athletes, the organizers have prepared a treasure hunt. There is also a mini sports badge for the little ones. If you don’t have time on the day of sports, you don’t have to do without the performance check. If the weather cooperates, the conditions for the sports badge can be met every Monday between 6 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. on the Hasenberg sports field until September 3rd.
