The integrated mailbox function diversifies the possibilities of receiving services. It allows citizens to send parcel letters along with parcels. The implemented solution makes it more convenient to send traditional correspondence, which is available to individuals and companies at any time of the day.
“Aware of changing shipping habits and delivery methods, our team continues to focus on creating comprehensive and easy-to-use services for the public. This is another step towards customer convenience – letters and parcels can be sent in one place at any time of the day,” said Jānis Kūliņš, a member of the board of “Latvijas Pasta”.

The first blue parcel boxes with a specialized letter box compartment can be found in several cities: Jelgava, Dobele highway 45A, Pāvilosta, Dzintaru street 69, and Riga, Krasta street 40 and Latgales street 414. They complement the current coverage of “Latvijas Pasta” letter acceptance points throughout in the territory of the country. When sending a parcel in the parcel network, the company also provides customer support at any time of the day.
The national postal operator will implement the functionality of the letter box in all outdoor parcels. In the existing outdoor parcel network, it is planned until the end of this summer. Thus, the company simplifies correspondence to offer high-value services and achieve a long-term vision – the first choice for every citizen’s mail.
The cost of sending a letter depends on the selected type of shipment, weight and destination. For simple shipments in the territory of Latvia in the weight category up to 20 grams, it is necessary to purchase a postage stamp with a nominal value of 1.65 euros. Stamps can be purchased at post offices, in the “Latvijas Pasta” e-store, in “Narvesen” kiosks, as well as in “Jānis Roze” and “Latvijas Grūmata” bookstores throughout Latvia.
Company representatives emphasize that “Latvijas Pasts” constantly improves and expands its services in order to strengthen its position in the represented business segments. One of the company’s priorities for 2024 is to double the number of parcel stations to 400 units in order to create the largest network of parcel stations in the entire territory of Latvia. Also improve the availability of universal mail services, parcel delivery processes and customer service.
At the same time, the company is developing the e-commerce shipment and logistics business segment, including universal mail (parcel and small parcel deliveries), express mail services and shipments addressed in the parcel network. Latvijas Pasts is also promoting new directions for forwarding parcels and cooperating with international e-commerce service providers to position Riga as a logistics center.
On the other hand, in the field of financial services, the company promotes cashless payments with the advantages of the VISA payment debit card and the mobile app “Latvijas Pasts” Pay. It also improves digital self-service tools and other features.
It has already been announced that VAS “Latvijas pasts” plans to create the concept of the new post offices by April, that’s what the chairman of the board of “Latvijas pastas” Beāte Krauze-Čebotare said at the press conference on Wednesday, February 28. “We plan to develop the new post office concept by April, and then in April we will inform all involved parties about what the new postal coverage in Latvia will look like,” said Krauze-Čebotare.
Beate Krauze-Čebotare also added that after the plan has been discussed and approved, the company plans to inform the public about what this plan could look like.
Krauze-Čebotare emphasized that the previous post office reorganization plan has been suspended, and the company will not close any post office until there is concrete clarity on how the network of post offices in Latvia will look in general – will all be physical branches of “Latvijas pasta” or will the company’s employees be located in other premises and will provide postal services.
Also, it was previously reported that “Latvijas pasts” planned to close 105 out of 176 post offices this year, but this reorganization plan was stopped.
