Latvia's main blonde Marika Ģederte is studying in Oxford and Harvard

Marika Ģederte, the founder of the College of Cosmetology, the winner of the beauty contest “Mrs. Universe 2008” and the founder of the former, but world-famous Latvian Blonde Association, has not been noticeable among people who like to enjoy social life for a long time. He goes out of society less often and, as he reveals, spends a lot of time acquiring new knowledge.

“Although I have a master’s degree in business management and have been running a business for more than 20 years, I am one of those people who learns all the time. Seminars and various development courses have always been a part of my daily life, ”explains Ģederte.

She reveals how she got to study at world-famous educational institutions. “Some time ago I read an article about the University of Cambridge not admitting our high school students due to different levels of education. Since I run a private college myself, I decided to take the hardest but most effective way – to become a student at one of the best universities in the world, to understand what a “bear’s belly” is, and to be able to objectively compare the work, requirements and levels of teachers. I chose two universities – Oxford University in Great Britain and Harvard in the USA. I took two different professional development courses: one on site, the other – remotely, ”says Ģederte.

She says of the experience: “I am very inspired by what I have heard and seen, I can really compare the requirements and programs at universities. Not only at the level of “I feel”, “I heard, read”, but I can judge it objectively. It seemed important to me to understand whether we really could not create a world-class university here. At the moment, I see a lot of shortcomings in national legislation and political decisions, including the quality of academic staff. Now I’m looking for ways to make my studies exciting, but I’m only at the beginning of the road, ”says Marika.

She reveals that she will improve herself in the near and distant future. “In the evenings I would learn digital marketing at RISEBA. I will be in the books by December and I admit that the workload is very high, but there is very little left. There are plans to learn English next year – I want to reach an excellent level. There is still an unrealized dream of learning French, but then. And I have to admit – the more I study, the more I understand that I don’t understand anything, ”admits the entrepreneur called the main blonde in Latvia.

“Lifelong learning is the most valuable investment in itself, no one can take it away. I am very proud of my staff, most of whom are currently developing and studying, studying every day. And I wish the same to each of you, ”says the businesswoman.
