Latvia’s largest hip-hop association “Kreisais Krasts” has given listeners a new song “Upuris”, which is the second single from the upcoming album in the fall. The album will be released under the influential “Warner Music Baltics” umbrella.
In the new song “Upuris” a significant contribution was made by the musician Būu (Ilze Fārte), who, in parallel with her solo career, has been actively participating in the creative process of “Kreisā Krasta” since last spring. “Since I wrote this verse, I [dziesmā iekļautie] the words “diva in a sports bra” have become a bit of a motto,” admits the singer. “If you ever see Boo in the city, 99% of the time I’m on my bike, jogging from the studio to dance practice or the gym in my tracksuit. Divas are many and varied. Of course, everything in life should come in moderation, but I like to embody and be proud of my work abilities and attitude towards life and music career.”
The song was created in a relatively short time, when an organically united nucleus came together. During a couple of hours in the studio, the main theme was suggested by Boo, who was joined by members of the association Punkts uz I, Henny, trakamelodija, Cepums and MAD with their verse in English. “Fear is played thematically, about resisting it and the daily carousel that spins without stopping, about choosing one’s own path and going towards one’s goals, about climbing higher,” the representatives of the association explain.
It should be reminded that “Kreisais Krasts” is the largest and longest-standing hip-hop association in Latvia, which celebrated its 20-year anniversary last year, but is still one of the brightest creators of hip-hop traditions – both in music and in lifestyle.
