Latvia’s Full-Length Animated Film Using Rotoscopy Technique: All You Need to Know

The shooting of a full-length animated film is underway in Latvia, where it is filmed with a unique, rarely used technique – rotoscopy, reports the program “Bez Tabu”.

The directors of the film say that the film is like an experiment. The technique used by the Abel brothers to shoot the new film is rotoscopy – the film was filmed with the participation of actors, and then redrawn by hand. Several Disney films are said to be rotoscoped, however, there are not many films that would be in the adult genre like the Apple film.

The director initially said about the actors chosen after the casting: “I want to see how it will look.”

Indeed, even the former Prime Minister Einars Repše can be seen in the cast, for whom this is already his second film role.

He finds that the work of actors is very exciting and he feels satisfied to create something together with other actors and masters that the public will later watch on cinema or TV screens. Einar has been interested in acting since childhood, and now his dream has come true.
