Latvians protest mandatory vaccination against COVID

Thousands of people took to the streets of the Latvian capital Riga on Wednesday night to protest against mandatory vaccination against COVID-19.

According to Baltic News Service, the main news agency in the region, the concentration exceeded the maximum allowed capacity and the attendees, many of whom were not wearing masks, did not respect social distance.

The protest drew about 3,500 people, BNS said, citing Latvian police.

Authorities said Thursday they were investigating several minor incidents, including the breaking of a police car’s glass and the use of firecrackers.

The mobilization ended around midnight.
