Latvian singer reveals her experience at Eurovision

In the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, Latvia was represented by the group “Aarzemnieki” with the attractive song “Cake To Bake”. Several years after the competition, Katrīna Dimanta, a member of the group, admitted in the LTV program “Life without a Draft” that her participation in the group was traumatic.

According to the singer, although it was a great honor to represent the country in the competition, it was also a traumatic experience for her, because the relationship between the group was not as friendly as it looked from the outside.

“The person next to you on stage is constantly attacking you behind the scenes and hitting you. I didn’t like the feeling,” the singer revealed. After the experience, she even thought about leaving music.

She discovers that when she was only 23, she was emotionally abused.

“Constant Eurovision on the spot all the time says that you are bad, that you are the worst person in the world, that you do not get anything, you are a fake person,” says the singer about the criticism received from a member of the group. Only later, working with psychotherapists, did she realize that the experience had had a lasting effect on her daily life.

The woman has already thought about leaving the group when applying for a song for Eurovision and has also informed her colleagues about it, but she did not think that “Aarzemnieki” will win the national selection.

The young woman has also received public criticism for her weight and visual appearance, which has led her to gain even more weight and thus feel the effects on her health. She admits that it has taken her long and hard work to change her perception and improve her physical fitness.
