Latvian Radio Choir returns with concert program ‘Northern Lights’

Live from Riga St. On Friday, November 11, at 9 pm, St. John’s Church will be able to enjoy the performance of the Latvian Radio Choir in the concert program “Ziemeļu gaisma”, the choir representative Indra Vilipsone informs the portal “Delfi”.

Latvian Radio Choir and conductor Mārtiņš Klišāns invites listeners to experience a special moment of presence and reunion in a live concert. Its program includes opuses by Ēriks Ešenvalds and Jēkabs Jančevskis, as well as well-known Christmas melodies in the arrangements of Nordic composers and Uģis Prauliņš’s “Cantate Domino” and the American composer Morten Loridsen’s “O Magnum Mysterium”. The concert program also includes opuses by Rihards Dubra, Dzintra Kurme – Gedroica and Jan Sibelius.

According to Vilipsone, organist Aigars Reinis is preparing a surprise for the live concert. Andis Klučnieks will play flutes and stabules in the concert.

The Cultural Information Systems Center will ensure the preservation of the concert recording within the ERDF project “Digitization of Cultural Heritage Content (Round 1)” and will offer the recording to all interested parties in the open access audiovisual recording portal Diva.lv soon.

We would like to remind you that on October 21 of this year it was established that approximately half of the members of the Latvian Radio Choir have become infected with Covid-19 and the choir has ceased its active activity.
