Latvian Radio Big Bands and Raimonds Pauls meet in music with the words of Imants Ziedonis / Article

On August 11, the music of Raimonds Pauls, composed in the 1960s and 1970s, will be played in the Dzintari Concert Hall. Latvian Radio Big Bands, Raimonds Pauls, singers Dināra Rudāne and Daumants Kalniņš will meet on the stage in the concert program “And we will not get more for a moment”, the representatives of “Latvian Concerts” informed.

In the concert, performed by the Latvian Radio big band, Dināra Rudāne and Daumants Kalniņš, the cycle of Paul’s songs with the words of Imants Ziedonis will be reborn, the most popular of which are the melodies “Don’t Bring Stars in the Room”, “Death of a Child”, “Cher ami” and others. “Maestro’s work from this time is especially close to me personally. The cycle of songs with the words of Imants Ziedonis is definitely a very, very vivid example from this period. What makes it even more special is that Gunārs Rozenbergs dressed in the sounds of the big band in the far 70’s, and his talent as an arranger also appears very bright here, ”says Kārlis Vanags, the artistic director of the Latvian Radio big band.

The concert will also feature the instrumental suites “Mountain Sketches”, “Impressions”, “Southern Watercolors” and “Black Colors”. Several decades ago, they were recorded by Raimonds Pauls trio in the 1st studio of Latvian Radio, but at the beginning of this year, the Latvian Radio big band gave them a new sound, which listeners will have the opportunity to hear in person. The vinyl recording will also be available to listeners very soon, it is released by the record house “Jersika Records”.

Concert attendees will be required to present an interoperable vaccination or Covid-19 disease certificate as well as an identity document.
