“With this holiday program, we invite the listeners to relax a little and enjoy life, because the music is good-sounding, easy to understand – there will be both world Christmas melodies in interesting jazz arrangements, and, of course, the maestro of our favorite composer [Raimonda Paula] garadarbi”, about the upcoming Latvijas Radio big band concerts at the end of the year in the program Morning ragtime says Kārlis Vanags, the artistic director of the big band.
On December 20, the Latvian Radio big band will perform in Jūrmala, in the Dzintari concert hall, and on December 21 in the Great Guild (the concert will also be broadcast live on Latvian Radio 3 Klasika at six in the evening!). On December 22, with the same program, the big band will also go to Rēzekni to entertain the audience in the “Gors” concert hall.
But that’s not all. Later this year, on December 28, the Latvian Radio big band is expected to meet with the rapper Ozola or Ęirta Rozentāls in “Arena Rīga”, with whom the big band already cooperates with some regularity.
“For the first time, it was a covid-era project, but over time it turned out to be much more sustainable,” reveals Kārlis Vanags. “We have performed together at several festivals, including “Bauska TASTE”.
I think that currently the popularity and relevance of Ozola is only growing. I am happy for his initiative to create such a big concert in “Arena Riga”, we will be honored to be in the second part and show what we have worked together.”
We talk about the upcoming concerts of the Latvian Radio big band in the Dzintari concert hall, the Great Guild and the Latgale embassy “Gors”, as well as a look back at the past year and plans for the next year.
