Latvian Radio big band and musician Chris Noah will perform in the concert series “In the Spotlight” / Article / LSM.lv

On Saturday, April 24, the Latvian Radio Big Band together with vocalist, composer and guitarist Chris Noah will give the second concert in the concert series “In the Spotlight”, the representatives of the Latvian Radio Big Band informed. The concert was recorded in Spīķeri Concert Hall, and its moderator is DJ, radio and television presenter Toms Grēviņš.

This is a brand new program created by the Latvian Radio Big Band together with musician Chris Noah. The big band has already established creative collaborations with such popular genre musicians as Ralph Eiland and the band “The Sound Poets”, creating genre-wide concert programs that would address both jazz and popular music audiences, especially young people. Together with Chris Noah, a concert program has been created with his original songs, arranged for the Latvian Radio Big Band by saxophonist Kristaps Lubovs and artistic director Kārlis Vanags. The concert will feature Chris Noah’s songs such as “Fall Through”, “The Line”, “Distance”, as well as interpretations of melodies by popular artists such as “Bon Iver”, “The Kooks”, “Mumford and Sons”.

In the first part of the concert, the Latvian Radio Big Band will also play Kārlis Vanags’ original compositions from the Latvian music record of the year award “Zelta Mikrofons” on the vinyl record “Identitātes / Identities”.

This is already the season of the 3rd Latvian Radio big band concert series “In the Spotlight”. Due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, it takes place without the presence of spectators. The recording of the concert took place in Spīķeri Concert Hall and will be shown on April 24 at 22.00, as well as on April 25 at 12.30. “ReTV” and retv.lv.

This year, concerts with vocalists Kristīne Prauliņš and Daumantas Kalniņš will take place in the “Spotlights”. The second big band composition competition for young Baltic composers will also take place, in cooperation with JVLMA. The implementation of the concert series “In the Spotlight” is supported by the SCCF.
