Celebrating the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia, “Klasika” has prepared a special program for its listeners, which will allow them to enjoy a real holiday feeling even within the restrictions dictated by the pandemic and will raise awareness of values ​​that are important not only for us but for Latvia.

At 10.30 we will enjoy the concert program of Daumants Kalniņš (voice and oboe) and Kaspars Zemītis (guitar and voice) in the program “Non-Academic” prepared by Inta Zēgnere “As long as the snails run …” with songs by Imants Kalniņš, which composer and conductor Juris Vaivods helped to choose for this program. The album released by the music house “Daile” in 2016 also includes the essay reflections on the passage of time spoken by Imants Kalniņš, as well as the lyrics of all songs have been published. We listen to this beautiful recording on the morning of Latvia’s 103rd birthday.

At 11.05 – look back at XII Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival. In cooperation with the State Education Content Center “Klasika”, Inta Pīrāga has prepared recordings for the festive table from two events of the 12th Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival – the kokle music program “I Came to Be” and the choral music concert “Song Boy”.

At 6.30 pm, a celebration concert “We are by your side” dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia will be broadcast on “Klasikas”. Latvia is celebrating its 103rd birthday in the shadow of pandemics and restrictions. This is the second time that a concert has been held at the Presidential Palace. The name of the concert is “We are by your side”. There is no charm of presence, but there is a song and a word that will definitely create a sense of celebration. The concert will feature songs that are well-known and loved by everyone, as well as newly created songs, but in each of them we will find the spirituality, light and hope that we so desperately need. Six young people, the winners of the “President’s Speech” competition, will share their thoughts on Latvia – its past, present and future, and at the culmination of the concert we will be addressed by President Egils Levits. The concert will be attended by Mihails Čuļpajevs (tenor), Mārtiņš Zilberts (piano), Reinis Jaunais, Gints Smukais and Goran Gora (guitar), Jānis Šipkēvics (voice), Elvis Lintiņš and Toms Mikāls (keyboards), Toms Požšs and Višs Ernests Mediņš (percussion), DJ Monsta, Carnival Youth, “Tautumeitas”, chamber choir Ave Sol and conductor Andris Veismanis.

Welcome at 8 p.m. Winners of the Cabinet of Ministers Awards and Acknowledgments – Maruta Rubeze will take care of it.

9 pm – Latvian national anthem “God bless Latvia!” For several years now, the culmination of Latvia’s birthday celebrations has been the common national anthem “God bless Latvia!” singing. November 18 at 21:00 Latvian time, singing our prayer, everyone in the whole world can greet their country on holidays.

Warm and loud at 21.02 We will send greetings to the world-famous Latvian conductor, Leipzig, on his 43rd birthday Gewandhaus and Andris Nelson, conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
