Latvian Radio 2’s Normunds Zušs Moves to Riga: Renovating House in Pierīga

Normunds Zušs, the beloved voice of Latvian Radio 2 and the host of LTV’s “Latvijas sirdsdziesma” program, has bid farewell to his native Latgale and embarked on a new chapter in his life. According to “Kas Jauns,” Zušs is now renovating his house in Pierīga, a region closer to the capital, with his family.

Born in Mālnava, Zušs later moved to Rēzekne, where he grew up and recently furnished his private house. He also owns family property in Dricāni and has always been a proud patriot of Latgale. In fact, he even authored Rēzekne’s anthem. However, Zušs has now decided to move closer to Riga.

In an interview with the publication, Zušs explained the reasons behind his decision. “It wasn’t easy to commute to Riga three or four times a week. It took a toll on my physical and car resources, and the rising fuel prices made me think twice. But the most important factor was that all my friends and acquaintances from the past years are in Riga. All the opportunities I can provide for my daughter are in Riga, including my current job and future job prospects. There was no other option but to move,” Zušs said.

The Zušs family’s new home is located in Pierīga, and the renovation process is expected to take at least five years. However, the determined Latgalian hopes to complete everything within two years. Zušs has relocated to Riga with his wife Mārīte and their six-year-old daughter Laima Elizabete, who will be starting second grade in the capital.

Normunds Zušs has left a lasting impact on Latvian radio and television with his distinctive voice and engaging programs. As he embarks on this new journey in Pierīga, his fans eagerly await his future projects and wish him and his family all the best in their new home.
