The woman was traveling with her 90-year-old mother, who has a disability, as well as a dog and a cat.
Gražina drove a car from Finland to Poland. The car’s tire burst, the vehicle skidded dangerously and hit the guardrail.
Despite the many phone calls, the drivers waited for more than two hours for help in the car stuck in the cold.
Gražina shares her experience in a letter to the security guards of the municipality of Bauska.
“We received the first support from two policewomen in a car with national license plate JU-1013; one of them was Diana. The policewomen showed us great understanding, helped us with telephone contacts and organized the help of their police colleagues from Iecava.
Huge thanks and praise to Aigars Zundas and Mārtiņš Jankovskis, municipal police officers of Bauska region. They took me, my mom, and the pets to their car where we could warm up, assessed the damage to the car, called a tow truck, and took us to a garage. Along with all care, showed great understanding, empathy and personal culture. It should be noted that all four policemen spoke English very well.
Despite our dangerous adventure, we are grateful to the wonderful Latvians who provided us with friendly and professional help! Thank you!”
