16 seconds after the start of the game, the first goal for the Latvian national team was scored by Rūdolfs Polcs, who successfully scored it from a short distance after passing Oskars Batņa.
Denis Smirnov managed to use the numerical majority in the first third, reaching 2: 0. Although Smirnovs had a good opportunity to score the lead goal but the home team’s goalkeeper Smirnov saved Smirnov’s shot that was headed for the top corner from the right.
