“Rakow” from Częstochowa, represented by the striker of the Latvian national football team, Vladislava Gutkovskis, beat “Widzew” from Lodz with midfielder Andrejas Ciganikas in the 28th round match of the Polish Ekstraklasa on Sunday. The match in Czestochowa ended with a score of 2:0 (1:0) in favor of the hosts.
Both Latvian footballers were in the starting lineups of their teams. Gutkovskis was replaced in the 69th minute, but Ciganiks played from bell to bell, receiving a yellow card in the second half.
The first goal was scored by Ivi Lopez in the ninth minute of the game, who scored a 11-meter penalty kick, but Fran Tudors added a point to the victory during second-half compensation with a well-executed free kick. It has already been reported that on Saturday “Lechia” from Gdańsk, represented by midfielder Krister Tober, lost 0:1 to the players of “Pogon” from Szczecin.
“Rakow” with 65 points in 28 games in the tournament is in first place in the table, “Widzew” is in the bottom with 38 points, and “Lechia” with 26 points occupies the 17th position in the competition of 18 teams. In the previous season, “Lech” from Poznań became the champion.
