Latvian designer Sigita Sniegs will participate in the international fashion festival United Fashion Festival / Diena

The aim of the festival is to tell about the concept of sustainable development of the fashion industry through the prism of designers’ vision. Rye dress, a bag made of old wallpaper and love letters written on textiles are only a small part of the exhibition of experimental collections. In parallel with the exhibition, creative workshops and educational workshops will be organized to show what fashion should look like today and why excessive production and consumption of clothing will be a thing of the past.

The fashion industry needs to question these values ​​in order to function and be recognized as the cultural, social and economic system it really is. Players in the global fashion industry in their collections, along with Martin Margiela (Belgium), Tom Van der Borght (Belgium), Marina Yee (Belgium) and Amelia Pichard (France), is also experimenting with ecological materials. For this festival, the designers did not create clothes from scratch, but transformed various products, perceiving them as “canvases” for self-expression and creativity as a theme of conscious consumption. Sigita Sniegs will present author’s photographs at the festival.

Sigita Sniegs is a textile and fashion artist with experience in fashion design. Her later work focuses on the reuse of textiles as an “autonomous” environment to create something more than elements of clothing and interior design.

International fashion industry project United Fashion promotes the development of designers in Europe towards entrepreneurship, while not limiting the creative potential of designers. The international designer showrooms that have taken place in France, Germany, Latvia, Macedonia, Portugal and Belgium over the last four years have allowed fashion professionals to gain knowledge of local markets and new development opportunities. The above-mentioned festival is the closing event of the project, while the Baltic Fashion Federation is the official one United Fashion partner in Latvia and the Baltic States.
