On Thursday, August 20, the Latvian Basketball Cup lottery took place in the shopping center “Akropole” – the largest sports bar in Latvia, O’Learys. 23 teams from four Latvian leagues will take part in the tournament, which resumes after a 26-year break. The winners of the Cup are expected to be announced in the final game on February 13,
Taking into account the sporting and geographical aspects, the teams were divided into several baskets before the draw and will be involved in the fight for the cup at different stages. In all stages up to and including the semi-finals, the winners will be determined in the sum of two games, the first games will take place on the squares of the teams listed first in the table.
In the first round (games scheduled for the end of September) Eastern “branch” games:
Rugāju SC (5th place in LBL3 East in the 2020 season) – “Garkalne Runči” (Maxibasketball 40+ group champions)
BC “Krāslava” / Sports school (9th place in LBL3 East) – BC “Cēsis” / Cēsis Sports School (2nd place in LBL3 East),
In the West games
BC “Liepāja” / LSSS (8th place in LBL2 West) – Iecava “Dartija” (1st place in LBL3 West),
BJBS “Rīga” (selection of senior groups of sports school departments) – Tukums / Sports School (LBL3 – 5th place in the East)
