At the European Latvian Association’s online forum, compatriots from all over the world shared their experience in organizing Latvian cultural events.
At a time when, due to the pandemic, cultural events around the world had subsided, the maintainers of Latvian life encouraged each other with stories of experience. For example, an ambitious Midsummer festival in Great Britain is organized by the organization “Bērzes Strazdi”.
The organizers say that there is a lot of work, because the British laws are strict: the setting of campfires, the use of a grill, the loud music must be coordinated. However, it is these works that require the acquisition of new skills and thoroughly uniting the Latvian community.
“We see it as a fantastic platform for personal growth. I think that it also contributes to the fact that we have not each gone to our side, this platform gives opportunities for development, ”says Toms Zeltins, a representative of the organization“ Bērzes Strazdi ”.
A major song festival celebration in 2022 is planned for Minnesota, USA. In order to make the events more ambitious, the organizers hope to involve teams from other countries as well.
