Latvian comedians establish their prize – the joke of the year will be announced at the ceremony “Rake” / Article

On January 8, the association “Comedy Latvia” organizes the first annual joke award ceremony “Grābeklis”. Hundreds of jokes will be performed during the evening with 10 comedians performing, and the audience in the hall will be able to assess which of them will receive the title “Joke of the Year 2021”, the organizers informed.

“Musicians have a ‘Golden Microphone’, actors – ‘Players’ Night’, and now comedians will have their own prize to fight for, making the audience laugh to tears,” explained the representatives of Comedy Latvia. The rake with a microphone pinned to the end of the handle has been a long-standing “open mic” symbol of “Comedy Latvia”, because every bit of life can turn into a good joke. According to the organizers of the event, all the comedians who will perform in “Rake” stand-up started by speaking on the sticky floor of the “open mic” locals. Comedy Latvia’s core comedians have toured Latvia with tours and various stand-up shows so that when performing in “Rake”, the audience can tell the jokes that caught the most attention and make the new year start with the laughter of thunder. ”
