Mārtiņš Egliens
Actor Martiņš Egliens has left the Latvian National Theater due to his health, LETA agency was informed by theater representative Lolita Grāvīte.
She points out that the management of the theater highly values Eglien’s work, which is also proven by the fact that he was scheduled for a role without a text in the next season. The Latvian National Theater respects Eglien’s decision to leave the theater and wishes the actor a speedy recovery.
In February, the “Ziedot.lv” portal posted information about the need for help for Eglien. A few hours after the advertisement was published, the funds were collected.
For some time, Eglien felt that he had problems with his voice, but a year ago he realized that the situation was serious because he could no longer speak normally.
Since then, Egliens has been to countless doctors, examinations and procedures. Several specialists were visited – otolaryngologists, neurologists, osteopaths, kinesiologists, manual therapists, psychiatrists, speech therapists, voice trainers, acupuncturists and even healers.
The actor was born on October 13, 1977. Since 2000, Egliens was an actor of the Latvian National Theater. For the role of Ako’s son in the production “Chronicle of Indrik” and the role of Fak in the production “Rietumu krastmala” in 2001, Egliens was nominated for the Gambler’s Night Award as the best young stage artist.
According to the “Delphi” portal, Eglien’s lost voice has now returned, he is able to speak, but not loudly. He was diagnosed with a rare disease of the larynx in Germany, which cannot yet be cured medically. German doctors have told him that he will have to inject botox into the muscle around the vocal cords for the rest of his life, but the actor himself admits that maybe the spasms in the muscle will subside on their own.
