Latvian Actor Mārtiņš Egliens Gives Health Update and Plans for Future

“Taking into account the fact that various speculations are starting to arise around my health condition, I wanted to give all of you who donated to my medical help (and others too) some kind of report on where the donated money has gone. So, that’s it…

Most of them are still under the strict supervision of the wonderful girls of Ziedot.lv. I have traveled to Germany, met a wonderful professor and had medical procedures. At the moment, I can communicate with close and even a little distant people (because I speak quietly), but it is possible to meet daily needs.

The procedures will have to be repeated, repeated, and repeated… So many times… And thanks to you, this is possible. A lot of things have been tried during this time, but there are still some possibilities… Step by step and – life will tell.

Many people have asked me if I will return to the stage… Here I have to say yes and no… As an actor, most likely, I will not fully please you in the near future (although I have a role planned for the National Theater next season… no text…)

But you will see me on stage and elsewhere… I have focused on my lifelong hobby – playing the piano and composing. God willing, someday you will hear my musical wonders. But if you want to meet in person, you are welcome to Melluži on Ligo evening. For the first time in my life, I will sit at the keys as a pianist – the leader of the band, and I will pretend that all the musicians are very afraid of me. But actually I’m afraid… Because it will be an honor to play with the best Latvian musicians. Kaspars Grigalis, Andris Grunte, Māris Jēkabsons and Mārcis Vasilevskis. Dita Lūriņa, Zane Dombrovska, Gundars Grasbergs and Juris Jope will share their joy of life. Because you see – life goes on and God smiles… As Mark Twain said: “The news about my death is greatly exaggerated…”

PS And taking this opportunity, I want to throw a white, soft, but still glove – Igo… I have written a song that I think suits him exactly… And me… Igo!!! Waiting for response…
