Latvian 3×3 basketball players start the final stage of the World Tour with two victories / Article

The Olympic champions beat the US team “Princeton” with a result of 20:14, winning in subgroup A.

Nauris Miezis was the top scorer with ten points, Kārlis Pauls Lasmanis scored six points, Agnis Chavars got three points and seven rebounds, but Edgars Krūmiņš added one point.

Opponents took the lead with a precise long-range shot, but Miezis was also flawless behind the perimeter – 2: 2. Lasmanis also responded to the next American long-range shot with 4: 3. Princeton returned to the lead, but after several unsuccessful attacks by both teams, Lasmanis carried out two “penalties” – 6: 5.

Opponents regained control again, but Miezis equalized the result with a shot from a close distance. Later, Krūmiņš also reached a draw after the passage (8: 8), but the Americans quickly responded with a long shot. Lasmanis defeated the opponents with a few shots and then Barely’s two points allowed him to take the lead (12:11).

After several inaccurate shots, Chavars threw a long shot and reached the benefit of the Rigans at 14:11. The 3×3 basketball players in the USA later approached one long shot, however, they did not reach the Latvians, who were in the lead with 20:14 with the final signal.

In the first game of the tournament “Riga” defeated the Swiss team “Lausanne” with 21:19.

“Rīga” tournament will feature Olympic champions Nauri Mieze, Agni Čavars, Edgars Krūmiņš and Kārlis Pauls Lasmanis. Latvian tournaments are sown with the first number, but today’s opponents in group A have the ninth and eighth number, respectively.

The two best teams in the subgroups will qualify for the quarterfinals. Group A teams will face one of the Group C quartets in the quarterfinals – “Liman” (3), “Šakiai” (6th) or “Gagarin” (11th).

Group B plays Ub (2nd), Jeddah (7th) and San Juan (10th), while Group D plays Antwerp (4th), Amsterdam (5th), Graz “(12.).

During the 2021 season, 48 teams and 162 players took part in the World Tour, 16 of whom are participants in the Olympic Games.

This year, Riga has been the leader in the World Tour in terms of points won in the game (19.8 points) and is considered to be the best team in the world at the moment. “Riga” basketball players have already won last year’s World Tour final.

“Rīga” with the Olympic champions won the last two stages of the World Tour in Abu Dhabi and Mexico City. In the previous five stages, we managed to get into the top eight. During the season, Artūrs Strēlnieks and Guntars Strāķis also participated in the “Rīgas” team, replacing one of the core players.

It was in Jida last year that Latvians won the tour finals, but Miezis was recognized as the most valuable player of the season.
