Before that, Latvia lost 3×3 basketball players to Estonia in the semi-finals with a result of 15:16, so they had to lose the match for the final tournament with Romania, which conceded to Poland with 16:21. In this game Latvia lost with the result 17:20.
In the first minute, no points were scored until Mauriņa, in a difficult situation, sent the ball into the basket after the turn (1: 0). The opponents answered with two points, but Mauriņa reached 2: 2 after the pass. The three best teams in the tournament – the winners of the semi-finals and Romania – won a ticket to the final tournament of the European Championship, which will take place on September 9-11 in Graz, Austria.
In 2019, the Latvian national team, which included Baiba Eglīte, Ieva Kūlīte, Kristīna Petermane and Liene Stalidzāne, won bronze medals at the European Cup.
