Artists Krista and Reinis Dzudzilo, in collaboration with the team of the Latvian literary export platform “Latvian Literature” and the authors of the idea of the campaign #iamintrovert Unu Rozenbaum, have created the object “In3” or “Introvert In Interior”. It is planned that the biennial will literally bring to life the comic characters drawn by the artist Reinis Petersons #iamintrovert – writer I. and writer I. – with whom visitors will have the opportunity to share their secret. Both images of the writers will provide a private response to this mystery in literary form.
“The object refers to the interior of the exhibition space” Somerset House “intended for the Latvian exposition, the two vertical arched windows in it. Together they form a three-dimensional trinity.” In3 “is both a sacred and everyday object, It is like a performative, living monument to Latvia ‘s present writers and literature, “says Krista and Reinis Dzudzilo.
With the #iamintrovert campaign, Latvia presented itself, together with Lithuania and Estonia participating in the London Book Fair in 2018. The campaign opened Latvia as a nation of introverted writers, who like to dedicate themselves solely to writing books about getting together and attending public events. The campaign received two gold medals at the advertising festival “Adwards” in 2018, as well as the Latvian Design of the Year award in 2019.
“The campaign achieves its goals with humor and wit, as well as lingers in people’s memories. It shows the psyche of the nation in a heartfelt way with a rich range of content. We hope that the campaign will continue,” said the Latvian Design Awards 2019 jury chairman Victoria and Head of the Department of Design, Architecture and Digital Art at the Victoria and Albert Museum, and Cristopher Turner, Creative Director of the 2018 London Design Biennale.
