Latvia to Lead in Securing Transit Corridor for Ukrainian Grain Exports: Live Updates on the War in Ukraine on July 29

Live text broadcast – short and concise about the most important things in the war in Ukraine on July 29. Ukraine has been heroically defending its land against the aggressor’s invasion for more than a year.

00:10. After Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea “grain deal”, Latvia should take the lead in securing a transit corridor for Ukrainian grain exports, the Latvian Stevedoring Companies Association (LSA) said.

The capacity of Latvian ports already allows to ensure at least 20% or 15 million tons of Ukrainian grain export, while neither Lithuanian nor Polish ports have such capacity, the association emphasizes.

By carrying out all the necessary procedures for the creation of such a transit corridor as soon as possible, including providing a green corridor for Ukrainian cargo, Latvia would be able to help Ukraine overcome the grain export crisis caused by Russia’s actions, which poses an increasingly catastrophic threat to the food supply of African countries. It also restricts Ukraine’s economy, emphasizes Ivars Landmanis, chairman of the LSA council.
