Today in Riga, in the Jauna Teika office complex, the country’s largest charging point for electric cars was opened. In it, 28 ports are available in the three stations created on Elektrum Drive in cooperation with EfTEN Capital. This further strengthens Latvia’s position as the leader of the electric car charging network in the Baltic States.
Not only in the private sector, but also in the business sector in Latvia, the number of electric cars is growing convincingly, reaching a 158% increase in 2022. It is significant that in the segment of new cars, the demand for electric cars is already higher than the demand for diesel cars. This determines changes both in the latest residential stock and also in the offer of offices, including electric transport charging options in the projects, so that in the future both residents and employees can provide for their needs. Therefore, Elektrum Drive also offers its solutions to companies that are developing their environmentally friendly car fleet or improving their existing service, as EfTEN Capital does.
In accordance with the requirements of modern office buildings, the largest electric charging point in Latvia, created by Elektrum Drive in cooperation with EfTEN Capital, was opened today – in the office complex Jaunā Teika in Riga. There are three electric car charging stations with 28 ports and 22 kW charging capacity for the needs of companies, residents and guests. A special charging price of 0.18 EUR/kWh will be available at the new station until August 31. It has already been reported that the public charging network in Latvia is growing the fastest compared to neighboring countries, and there are 2.38 stations for every 10 registered electric cars, in Estonia they are 0.57, and in Lithuania 0.93 stations.
“Even if it’s just a coincidence, it’s significant – today, August 29, it’s been 4 years since we’ve been offering electric car charging services under the Elektrum brand. Currently, we are the largest charging network in Latvia, and cooperation with partners plays an important role in it, as is the case. Each port built in partnership brings a triple benefit – firstly, to the environment, secondly, to the society, and thirdly – to the cooperation partner, which provides the most relevant amenities to a wide range of people,” says Nikita Gorbatko, senior project manager of Elektrum Drive.
Viktors Savins, chairman of the board of EfTEN Capital Latvia: “The ceremonial opening of the largest electric car charging station in Latvia in Jauna Teika marks a significant step towards sustainable mobility and climate neutrality. This project not only addresses the growing demand for electric vehicle charging, but is also a beacon of progressive urban planning.
For us, EfTEN Capital and tenants of Jaunas Teikas, this project means more than just a charging station. Thanks to improved accessibility and efficiency, electric vehicle owners are given the freedom to travel further, faster and with a smaller ecological footprint. Every motorized vehicle at our charging stations is a testament to our strong commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable world.
Witolds Kaupass, manager of the office complex New Teika: “The satisfaction of our tenants is the most important; by providing electric charging infrastructure, we help our lessees actively participate in the transition to sustainable transport, thereby reducing costs for fuel, maintenance and taxes. The availability of electric charging in New Teika adds a new layer of convenience, promoting a positive and modern tenant experience, and it is only one of the first steps in expanding the convenience of tenants in New Teika.
4 years have passed since Latvenergo started offering electric car charging services under the Elektrum brand, the brand’s charging network has grown to become the largest in the country and is rapidly developing not only in Latvia, but also in Lithuania and Estonia – by the end of this year, more than 500 ports will be available in the Elektrum Drive network.
Elektrum Drive closely cooperates with entrepreneurs who need to ensure the availability of charging for their employees and customers, therefore company representatives are invited to contact Elektrum Drive by filling out the application form on the Elektrum portal and apply for a consultation on setting up an appropriate charging point on the territory of their company. Elektrum Drive offers its partners various cooperation models according to the partner’s desired investments in the project, providing both partial and full financial support in the construction and equipping of the charging station.
