Latvia plans to send blankets and heated tents to earthquake-stricken Turkey

Taking into account the above, the State Fire and Rescue Service will prepare three winter-adapted heated tents, five lighting sets and 30 metal coils with cables for lighting sets.

The emergency medical service will prepare 5,000 blankets.

The total costs for restoring the state’s material reserve resources would be 189,000 euros, as well as 11,000 euros would be the cost of transporting aid.

It has already been reported that Latvia also plans to grant Turkey 70,000 euros to mitigate the consequences of the earthquake.

The death toll from an earthquake in Turkey and Syria continued to rise above 21,000 on Thursday, as hopes of finding survivors under the rubble of buildings dwindled.

So far, at least 17,674 people have been confirmed dead in Turkey following Monday’s earthquakes, while the death toll in neighboring Syria has risen to 3,377.
