Latvia has lost drone; airspace closed Abroad

Due to corona, it is not that busy in Latvian airspace, but at least one Chinese plane had to be diverted. Helicopters are being searched for the drone, which according to the manufacturer should have turned itself off when the contact was broken.

That shutdown has not happened, the drone is probably still flying. Battery and fuel would be enough to stay in the air for about 60 hours. The search continues today.

As long as the drone has not been found, the few passenger and cargo flights cannot proceed as planned, Transport Minister Talis Linkaits said via Twitter.
