The US drug watchdog FDA has now also approved Moderna and Janssen’s vaccines for use as a ‘booster’ shot. That approval had already been granted for the vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech.
Americans can receive any of these three vaccines as a booster shot, regardless of which vaccine they were previously vaccinated with. According to the FDA, this does not pose any major risks, although it is not yet clear exactly which combination is most successful.
The booster shot in the US is currently intended for people over 65 and for people who belong to risk groups. It is being considered to lower the minimum age of 65 years.
